About this item

  • Hand-Plucked Fuller Leaf From Tonganagaon, Assam: Sourced from India's largest organic Fair Trade estate, this larger-leaf tea steeps slowly and evenly for a smooth, balanced cup, not the tannic bitterness of machine-picked fannings.
  • Aged With Real Bergamot, Not Flavoring: Organic Assam black tea is aged with true bergamot oil for several weeks, developing a bright citrus note without the artificial "natural flavor" used in most Earl Grey blends.
  • High-Caffeine Black Tea, Hot or Iced: A robust, fully oxidized black tea with high caffeine content, smooth enough for a plain cup and sturdy enough to hold up to milk or a full pitcher of iced tea.
  • Pure Ingredients, Nothing Else Added: USDA Organic Assam and organic bergamot oil only, no natural flavors, fillers, or added sugar.
  • Certified Organic, B Corp, Microplastic-Free: USDA Organic, Fair Trade Certified, and Climate Neutral Certified, with tea bags that are BPI Certified Biodegradable and independently verified free of added microplastics.

Bright, balanced, and unmistakably real. Numi's Aged Earl Grey opens with a robust black tea base and finishes with a bright, citrusy lift from real bergamot — no artificial flavoring, no perfume-like aftertaste. It's smooth enough to sip plain, bold enough to take milk, and holds its flavor beautifully over ice. That balance comes from time. We age organic Assam black tea with true bergamot oil for several weeks, allowing the citrus to fully infuse into the leaf rather than simply coating it. The result is a rounder, more integrated cup than teas flavored with bergamot essence alone. We start with fuller leaf, hand-plucked Assam from Tonganagaon, the largest organic Fair Trade tea estate in India. Larger leaves have more surface area to unfurl and steep evenly, releasing flavor gradually instead of the fast, tannic bitterness typical of machine-picked fannings and dust used in many tea bags. Sourcing from Tonganagaon also means your tea purchase supports Numi's Together for H2OPE project, which has brought clean water and sanitation to more than 6,500 farming families at the estate. Every tea bag is made from manila hemp (Abacá) fiber, sealed with a crimp-and-knot process instead of the plastic heat-seals used in most tea bags, so no polypropylene ever touches your cup. The bags are BPI Certified Biodegradable and supplier-verified free of added plastics or microplastics — not just labeled that way. The outer wrapper is plant-based and commercially compostable, made from FSC-certified paper and non-GMO sugarcane. Each bag is USDA Certified Organic and Fair Trade Certified. Steep 3–5 minutes in fresh, boiling water for a classic cup, hot or iced.
