We source this tea from Jiangxi, China's first Fair Trade tea garden, where Fair Trade sales have raised workers' wages 30 to 40 percent and provided funds for children's education through high school and university. Every tea bag is made from manila hemp (Abacá) fiber, sealed with a crimp-and-knot process instead of the plastic heat-seals used in most tea bags, so no polypropylene ever touches your cup. The bags are BPI Certified Biodegradable and supplier-verified free of added plastics or microplastics — not just labeled that way. The outer wrapper is plant-based and commercially compostable, made from FSC-certified paper and non-GMO sugarcane. Certified USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified.
