Detecting Pipes and Wires: The Mecurate Stud Finder detects studs by identifying differences in wall material density. Therefore, wires or pipes located close to the wall surface may also cause the signal bars to flicker. When this occurs, it indicates that the stud finder is working properly. To confirm whether you have found a stud, scan the wall vertically. Signal bars will typically stay consistent over a stud, while wires may only appear in a small area, and pipes may have bends or branches that cause the signal bars to light up intermittently. Always take necessary safety precautions, and turn off all gas, water, and electricity before penetrating the wall.

Lath and Plaster: The Mecurate Stud Finder has a detection depth of up to 1.5 inches, allowing it to penetrate most lath and plaster walls. When the plaster thickness is irregular or the material variations exceed this depth, detection results cannot be guaranteed.
