Numi's Chinese Breakfast is a gourmet Yunnan-style black tea made with the flavorful golden tips of the tea leaf, brewing into a tiger's-eye colored cup with a lingering floral finish. Balanced enough to drink any time of day, hot or iced, plain or with milk. Yunnan, China is considered the birthplace of tea, cultivated by ethnic tribes in the region since the Dian Dynasty. We source this tea through our Verified Fair Labor program, which ensures the workers who grow and process it receive fair wages, overtime pay, safe working conditions, and benefits like maternity leave. We use only hand-plucked, fuller leaf tea. Larger leaves have more surface area to unfurl and steep evenly, releasing flavor gradually rather than the fast, tannic bitterness typical of machine-picked fannings and dust. Every tea bag is made from manila hemp (Abacá) fiber, sealed with a crimp-and-knot process instead of the plastic heat-seals used in most tea bags, so no polypropylene ever touches your cup. The bags are BPI Certified Biodegradable and supplier-verified free of added plastics or microplastics — not just labeled that way. The outer wrapper is plant-based and commercially compostable, made from FSC-certified paper and non-GMO sugarcane. Each bag is USDA Certified Organic. Steep 3–5 minutes in fresh, boiling water for a full-flavored cup.
